What about an ice cold Daquiri or a
hard hitting Sidecar? Or a Bloody
Mary perhaps? Yes? Then read on to
get a few tips concerning drinks and
of course some recipees!
¹
What do I need?
First at all, of course the spirits
and all the other liquids you need in
order to become a Tom Cruise behind
the bar counter. Then, you need
different kinds of glasses. The glass
you're going to use most of the times
is a cocktail glass. This glass is a
little circular glass on top of a
short stem. The glass usually holds
no more than 1 decilitre (0.1 litre).
Some drinks ought to be served in
other kinds of glasses but this is the
most common glass used for cocktails
(hence the name cocktail glass).
Secondly you'll need a shaker. If
you haven't got a shaker then use an
electric mixer (a blender). You have
to own a strainer too but I guess
everybody has such a sophisticated
tool at home. A long, thin spoon
might be rather handy too to mix the
drinks too. Other basic tools are
knifes, bottle opener, corkscrew and
lots of ice.
Some Basic Rules.
Drinks containing only spirits, wine
and liquer should be mixed in a big
mix glass with the long spoon.
Afterwards place a strainer over the
cocktail glass and pour the substance
over the strainer so it runs down in
the coktail glass.
Drinks containing stuff like juice,
eggs, cream and the like has to be
shaked in the cocktail shaker (or the
electric mixer). If you're using the
shaker don't fill it up. There has to
be enough room so you can mix the
ingredients well.
Remember to mix the drink just
before it is to be drunk so it's fresh
and attractive. Don't mix or shake
for too long!
Note: i.e. 1/4 means a quarter.
